Choose Life

In the first reading, we are told that before us is presented the choice of good and evil, life and death, and then we are told that anyone we choose will be given to us. To make the right choice, the second reading encourages us to bring ourselves to be imparted with the secret and hidden wisdom of God, that the rulers of this world do not know; and that hidden wisdom is to wrap our live around that of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is the Lord of glory. Jesus Christ is our Lord who did not come to abolish the law and prophets, but to fulfil them. Jesus knows the path to life, because he is life itself, so he declared: “unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the Kingdom of heaven”. Jesus held the scribes and the Pharisees to be hypocrites, saying yes while meaning no. so he warned that we should live simple and holy lives, meaning yes when it is truly yes, and meaning no when it is truly no. This can be said to be choosing life, since anything other than this comes from the evil one who is death itself.

PRAYER FOR THE WEEK:

My God, grant me your wisdom always so that I may never choose death and evil over life and goodness. Help me give myself totally to Christ, my Lord, so that in him I will live and move, and have my being.

TRAIN A VIRTUE FOR CHRIST: (Simplicity) Be an easy person to understand.

MEDITATION POINTS FOR THE WEEK:
(a).Do people see you as a simple person? Why?
(b). Are you truly a simple person?
(c) Has your simplicity influenced people around you?

MEMORY VERSE FOR THE WEEK: How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? And the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge? (Proverbs 1:22).

Write down below something from today’s homily. Reflect on it for the coming week
