Let Your Light Shine Before All

In the gospel reading, our Lord Jesus Christ reminds us that we are the light of the world, and then commands us, saying: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” But we know that there is no light that we have created for ourselves, so what light is Jesus talk about we are? St. Paul, in the second reading, helps us understand that the disciples of Jesus have only one light, which is Jesus himself; and that was why he said to the Corinthians that he (Paul) was among them with much fear and trembling, without a fantastic speech, yet all he could bring to them was the demonstration of the Spirit and of power of our crucified Lord, Jesus Christ. But should we be confused or claim not to know how the light of Christ in us must shine before all people, then the first reading helps us out by teaching us that we should share our bread with the hungry, and bring the homeless poor into our homes; when we see the naked, we should cover them, and we must never hide ourselves away from those in need, because they are our brothers and sisters. For in doing such things shall our light break forth like the dawn, and our healing shall spring up speedily.

PRAYER FOR THE WEEK:

My Lord, you are the light in me that kills any form of darkness in me. Please Lord, kill the darkness of sin within me so that I may radiate your beauty through my words and actions to all my brothers and sisters.

TRAIN A VIRTUE FOR CHRIST:

(Trust) There is a great lack of trust in the society today. Show that you trust others and show others that they can trust you too.

MEDITATION POINTS FOR THE WEEK:
(a) Do people readily entrust things with me?
(b) Can Christ trust me with myself?
(c) What destroys trust?

MEMORY VERSE FOR THE WEEK:

Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him (Job 13:15)

Write down below something from today’s homily. Reflect on it for the coming week
