In the first reading, we are given the account of how death came into the world through Adam and Eve’s sin of disobedience of the commands of God, and their greed of wanting to be greater than how God created them to be. Though Adam and Eve, and indeed the whole of humanity, offended God so badly, yet this was not able to change God from being love itself. Humankind had chosen death through sin, as a result of Adam’s fall, but the love of God for humankind made Him not abandon humankind in the hands of death, rather, God caused that life should reign in humankind through the one man Jesus Christ; as the second reading makes us understand. Therefore, as one man’s trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one man’s act of righteousness leads to acquittal and life for all men. The reign of life that comes to us from our Lord Jesus Christ will continue to remain fruitful in us when we join him, as recorded in the gospel reading, in his defeat of human hunger that compromises God’s standard for us, show of earthly powers and positions that challenges the authority of God, and worship of false god, which must never be because that amounts to insulting God.
PRAYER FOR THE WEEK:
My dear Lord, may your love overshadow me always. Grant that I do not abandon your love for me for a life of sin and death. Grant me the grace to constantly war against human passions so that I never go against your commandments.
TRAIN A VIRTUE FOR CHRIST: (Meekness) Be submissive and willing to subject your strength to be controlled for a good cause or reason.
MEDITATION POINTS FOR THE WEEK:
(a) Am I a meek person?
(b) Why do I need to be meek?
(c) What do I lose from not being meek?
MEMORY VERSE FOR THE WEEK: In the same manner thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand will hold me up, and thy meekness shall multiply me. (Psalm 18:35)
