Parish Announcements – 11th June, 2023

  1. SOLEMNITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI: Today is the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus et Sanguinis Christi). It is a day set aside by the Church to remember and appreciate Jesus’ gift of His body and blood to mankind for our sanctification, and salvation (eternal life). Let us observe the solemnity devoutly.
  1. ORGANIZATIONS MEETING: Today, 11th June 2023, is the Monthly General Meetings of the Catholic Women Organization and Catholic Men Organization (after the 10.00am Mass) and Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria (after the 8:00am Mass). Let us all ensure we attend our respective organizations as crucial matters will be discussed.
  1. SACRED HEART WEEK: Our parish Sacred Heart week begins today and will run till next Sunday, 18th June, 2023 with the theme: “I will Reign through my Heart, inspite of Satan and His agents” . Sub Theme: “Heart of Mary Nailed to the Cross with Jesus Christ”. Below are the topics for our daily talks and personal meditations:
    Mon., 12th June 2023:           I will Reign through my Heart inspite of Satan and His Agents.
    Tues., 13th June 2023:           Reflecting on the Promises of the Sacred Heart of Jesus
    Wed., 14th June 2023:           Know your Association
    Thurs., 15th June 2023:         The Ingratitude/Indifference to the Sacrament of my Love.
    Fri., 16th June 2023:              Feast of Sacred Heart of Jesus
    Sat. 17th June 2023:               Feast of Immaculate Heart of Mary
    Sun., 18th June 2023:            Open Thanksgiving at all Masses

Please note that during the novena, there shall be visitation and offering of financial assistance to some members/Visit to the less privileged.

  1. SOLEMNITY: Friday, 16th June 2023 is the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, the symbol of the immense love of Christ for humanity. As Catholics, we are all obliged to attend mass and observe the solemnity devoutly. Masses shall be at the usual times.
  1. IMMACULATE HEART: Saturday, 17th June 2023 is the memorial of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, to mark her maternal love and compassion for humankind. Let us endeavour to attend mass and pray the rosary in honour of Mary.
  1. PUBLIC HOLIDAY: Due to the national public holiday tomorrow, 12th June 2023, masses shall be by 6:30am and 6:30pm ONLY. Please note that the Parish Office will be closed.
  1. CHRISTIAN WAKE: There will be Christian Wake for Late Mrs Francisca Nwawuaku Ubah on Tuesday, 13th June 2023 by 6:00pm (Venue: 512 Road, H Close, House 16, Festac Town). She was a member of the Association Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary, Catholic Women Organization and Confraternity of Christian Mothers.
  1. FREE MEDICAL TEST: There will be Free Blood Pressure, Height and Weight check at the fate every Sunday after the 8:00am and 10:00am masses. Please do well to avail yourself this opportunity.
  1. NIN COLLECTION: This is to inform you our dear parents whose children registered for the NIN exercised conducted in the parish last 2 weeks that the slips are ready for pickup. Kindly pick them up at the Parish Office between 9:00am to 4:00pm.
  1. CHARITY/LOVE BOWL: We wish to remind our parishioners to return their Lenten Charity/ Love bowls to St Vincent de Paul Society. Let us endeavor to be committed. Remember; “whatsoever you do to the least of my brethren, that you do unto me”.
  1. CD SALES:  The Video Recording of the Rededication Ceremony is out!! The CD goes for 500 naira only. Ensure you get one for yourselves, friends and family members.
  1. CYON TEEN CAMP 2023: We are back again, bigger and better!   1. CHILDREN MASS: Parents and Guardians are encouraged to take their children to attend the 8am Children Mass at the Upper Hall. Church wardens are to direct them accordingly.
  1. 2022 HARVEST: All those who made pledges at last year’s Harvest of Divine Peace should kindly redeem them by cash, cheque or POS at the Harvest Stand (on Sundays) and Parish Office (during the week).   1. PARISH ID CARDS: This is to inform parishioners that the Parish ID cards of those who registered since last year and beyond are ready for collection at the Parish Office, kindly go to the Parish Office to check. Also, we encourage our new members to please register at the Parish Office and those whose card is expired can as well renew at the Parish Office.
  1. HOLY CHILD CHOIR: The Holy Child Choir invites all children within the ages of 8 to 15 years who can play any musical instrument to come use their talents and skills to serve the Lord in the choir. The choir meets on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 6pm in the upper hall of the parish center. Registration is free.

  1. (1%) ONE PERCENT BIBLE CHALLENGE: We wish to encourage all Parishioners to read and study the word of God for at least 15minutes every day; which is about 1% of 24 hours. For this week, in other to keep the story of the Pentecost fresh in our minds, we shall be reading from the Gospel of John, and then Acts of the Apostles. Take up this challenge faithfully as stated below and be enriched spiritually.

  1. RETURN TO THE SACRAMENTS: We wish to encourage those who have been estranged from the sacraments for one reason or the other especially the Holy Eucharist, to return to the Sacraments. Kindly meet any of the Priests if you are having any difficulty in this regard. May Christ grant us life through His Body and Blood. Amen.
