Parish Announcements – 6th August, 2023 – Holy Family Catholic Church

2023 FAMILY WEEK: Today, 6^th August 2023 marks the end of our Annual Archdiocesan Family Week Programme with the theme; “Strengthening Marital Love Amidst the Challenging Realities of the Modern World”. All families are expected to seat together at mass with their children so there shall be no Children Mass. There shall be renewal of Marriage Vows and Exchange of Gifts while the children are to write Appreciation Letters to their parents.

TITHE SUNDAY: Today, the first Sunday of the month is Tithe Sunday, there shall be a special blessing before the Second Collection. You can also make your transfers to our Fidelity Bank 5080032193 in favour of Holy Family Catholic Church, Festac.

FEAST DAY: Thursday, 10^th August 2023is the Feast of St. Lawrence, we are all encouraged to attend mass and observe the feast devoutly.

FIRST MONDAY ANOINTING: Tomorrow, 7^th August 2023, is the first Monday of the month. There shall be special blessing and anointing at all masses. Let us all endeavour to participate in this spiritual exercise.

ORGANIZATIONS MEETING: Next week Sunday, 13^thAugust 2023, is the Monthly General Meetings of the Catholic Men Organization and Catholic Women Organization (after the 10.00am Mass) and Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria (after the 8:00am Mass). Let us all prepare to attend our respective organization meetings.

WELCOME: We welcome to our parish the Archdiocesan members of the Catholic Confraternity of Christian Fathers as they have come to sensitize us about the Society. We wish them a successful moment with us.

BLESSING OF HOLY WATER AND SACRAMENTALS: Parishioners are encouraged to come with their Water, Salt, Olive Oil and other sacramentals for blessing every Tuesday for the Rite of Blessings during the evening mass.

FINAL PROFESSION: The Final Profession of our Sister in charge of the Bookshop, Rev. Sr. Mary Clementina Okoli EHJ, comes up on Tuesday, 15^th August 2023 and her Thanksgiving mass comes up on Sunday, 3^rd September 2023. You are cordially invited. SMALL CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY: SCC meetings will take place at various community centers on Wednesday, 9^th August 2023 at 6pm. Scriptural reading: Matthew 14:22-33. Please note that there will be no evening Mass or Society meetings during the SCC time. There shall be mass this Wednesday at St. Paul SCC. Venue: 401 Road, G Close, Block 5, Flat 4, Festac Town. All those living around should be in attendance. Please refer to the Parish notice board or parish website for the various centers.

KNOW YOUR FAITH: This Saturday, 12^thAugust, 2023, we shall have our Parish Monthly Know Your Faith/ Doctrinal Class during the 6:30am Mass. All Parishioners are encouraged to be in attendance so as to grow in the faith.

SPECIAL COLLECTION FOR THE POOR: There shall be monthly Special Collection for the Poor every third Sunday of the month. We are all encouraged to donate generously. “Remember, whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers, that you do unto me”

CATHOLIC TEACHERS ASSOCIATION: The 2023 summer lesson is ongoing and will run till Friday, 25^th August, 2023. Our usual programme include Academics, Vocational Training, Library Studies, Moral Instruction(s) and Religious Studies as each day’s lesson ends with the attendance of the Holy Mass. Parents or Guardians should kindly register their children/ward at the Parish Office or the Laity Office. Registration Form: #500. Fees: #3,500 (Nursery & Primary) and #5,000 (Secondary).

SOLOMON’S COURT TALENT HUNT: The CYON of Holy Family Catholic Church presents to you her 2^nd edition of the Solomon’s Court Talent Hunt. This season promises to be top notch as loads of amazing talents like Rappers, Singers, Dancers, Actors, Artists/Various Crafts and so much more would be displayed on stage. Our Parish novena to Our Lady Undoer of Knots runs from the 1^st to 9^th of every month. Let us participate actively in these efficacious prayers on the various parish platforms.

(1%) ONE PERCENT BIBLE CHALLENGE: We wish to encourage all Parishioners to read and study the word of God for at least 15minutes every day; which is about 1% of 24 hours. For this week, we shall be reading from the First & Second Letters of St. Paul to the Corinthians. Take up this challenge faithfully as stated below and be enriched spiritually.

RETURN TO THE SACRAMENTS: We wish to encourage those who have been estranged from the sacraments for one reason or the other especially the Holy Eucharist, to return to the Sacraments. Kindly meet any of the Priests if you are having any difficulty in this regard. May Christ grant us life through His Body and Blood. Amen.
