Parish Announcement – 28th January, 2024

  1. SPECIAL APPRECIATION: On behalf of the Pastoral Team, we wish to express our deepest appreciation to all our parishioners, Charismatic Renewal, Liturgical Functionaries, The Bands, Media Team and all of us who contributed to the success of our Parish 21-Days Foundational Prayer Retreat. May God shower His abundant blessings upon on us all. Amen.
  1. SPECIAL BLESSING FOR THE MONTH: Today is the Last Sunday of the month. There shall be a special thanksgiving for those born in the month of January and those who had wedding anniversaries or any special celebrations during this month.
  1. FEAST DAY: Friday, February 2nd, 2024 is the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord. We are all encouraged to attend mass and observe the feast devoutly. We are all expected to come with a candle for the procession.
  1. CELEBRATION OF CONSECRATED LIFE: Friday, 2nd February 2024 is the Day of Consecrated Life. Let us remember to pray for all Religious especially the Religious Sisters of Charity and EHJ Sisters who work in our Parish.
  1. LEADERSHIP SEMINAR: There shall be a mandatory Leadership Training for ALL Leaders/Executives of Organisations, and Societies, as well as members and executives of the Parish Pastoral Council, Parish Finance Council and Parish Laity Council of the Parish. Date: Saturday, 3rd February, 2024. Time: 9:00am Prompt. Venue: Upper Hall. Facilitator: Very Rev. Fr. Melvis Mayaki. All those involved should please take note and be in attendance.
  1. CHRISTIAN WAKE: There will be Christian Wake for Late Mr Albert Ekpenyong Bassey on Tuesday, 30th January 2024 by 6:00pm (Venue: 22 Road, O Close, Block 2, Flat 3, Festac Town) She was a member of Catholic Charismatic Renewal.
  1. SMALL CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY: SCC meetings have resumed and will take place at various community centers on Wednesday, 31st January, 2024 at 6pm. Scriptural reading: Mark 1:29-39. Please note that there will be no evening Mass or Society meetings during the SCC time.Please note that during the Season of Lent, SCC meetings will hold on Tuesdays at 6:00pm-7:00pm and as usual there shall be no evening Mass or Society meetings during the SCC time. Kindly refer to the Parish notice board or parish website for the various centers. All parishioners are encouraged to attend the SCC nearest to their homes.
  1. FIRST FRIDAY COMMUNION TO THE SICK AND HOME-BOUND: The First Friday visit and communion to the sick and home-bound comes up this Friday, 2nd January, 2024.
  1. FIRST SATURDAY: The First Saturday Marian Devotion and Rosary Procession comes up this Saturday, 3rd January, 2024 after the 6:30am Mass.
  1. NCWR COLLECTION: Next week Sunday, 4th February 2024 our Second Collection shall be an Archdiocesan Collection for the National Council of Women Religious (NCWR). Let us all prepare to donate generously.
  1. ASH WEDNESDAY: Wednesday, 14th February 2024 is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of the Season of Lent. It is a period of forty days in preparation for the celebration of the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus. Let us all prepare prayerfully for this spiritual journey.
  1. CALL FOR ACTORS: Do you have acting skills? Are between the ages of 15 and 45? More importantly, do you wish to evangelize the gospel through acting? Then be a part of something exciting as you sign up to be part of this unique project. Various roles exist in the 2024 Parish Passion Drama (Good Friday) organized by the Young Christian Workers, Holy Family Catholic Church, 22 Road Festac Town. To this end, there will be Auditions on Sunday 4th February, 2024 after the 8am Mass at the Upper Hall, in front of the Altar. For more information, please contact 07038025080.
  1. CHAPEL OF ADORATION: Kindly observe the rules of the chapel of Adoration. Please do not throw money or petitions over the glass rather, put in the box provided for the purpose.
  1. VOTIVE CANDLES: Parishioners are encouraged to light votive candles to pray for their intentions at Our Mother of Perpetual Help Stand. Please note that the candles are taken at a minimum of N200 per candle. 
  1. GROUP WEDDING: To celebrate the First Anniversary of our Church Rededication, the Parish will hold a Group Wedding on Saturday, 4th May, 2024. All those who have not regularized their marriages are requested to register at the Parish Office or through their Societies. Registrations end on Sunday, 11th February 2024. Marriage Preparatory Course begins on Sunday, 4th February 2024. Do not miss this opportunity if you have not wedded in the Church.
  1. ADULT CONFIRMATION: Registration into Confirmation Class for Confirmation on Pentecost Sunday is ongoing for baptized persons who are 40 years old and above or married and have not received the Sacrament of Confirmation. Classes hold on Sundays at 2:00pm and are mandatory. Register in person at the Parish Office or the Catechesis Resource Center.
  1. ALTAR WINE: We wish to inform all parishioners that due to the high cost in the importation of Altar Wine, a bottle of Altar Wine is now sold for N3,500 while a Carton is N42,000. We are sorry for the inconveniences this may cause.
  1. BULLETIN SPONSORSHIP & ADVERT PLACEMENT: We encourage all parishioners to kindly subscribe to sponsoring and placing adverts in our weekly bulletin publications. The cost for bulletin adverts are as follows: Full Page: 15,000; Half Page: 6,000; Quarter Page: 3,000 while the cost for bulletin sponsorship is dependent on the parishioners.   1. TITHE SUNDAY: Next Sunday is Tithe Sunday, those who wish to pay their tithes should pick up an envelope for use next week. You can also make your transfers to our Fidelity Bank 5080032193 in favour of Holy Family Catholic Church, Festac.
  1. CHAPLAINS: Societies and Organizations executives should kindly check the Parish notice board or Parish website for the updated list of Chaplains and duly arrange a meeting with their new assigned Chaplains.
  1. THANKSGIVING ITEMS: Parishioners are encouraged to consider purchasing essential items needed for the Parish during their individual and family open thanksgiving. Kindly consult the priests or the Parish Office for the list of items.
  1. HARVEST PLEDGE REDEMPTION: We wish to encourage all parishioners to kindly redeem their pledges at the Harvest Stand (On Sunday) and the parish office (during the week) in cash, cheque or POS and get a receipt.   1. ALTAR SERVERS:  There is a call for new members into the Association. Male (from age of communicant to 16 years) & Female (from age of communicant to 12 years) previous servers from other Parish are also free to join. We encourage all parents/guardians to permit children who are interested to join.
  1. BLESSING OF HOLY WATER AND SACRAMENTALS: Parishioners are encouraged to come with their Water, Salt, Olive Oil and other sacramentals for blessing every Tuesday for the Rite of Blessings during the evening mass.
  1. HOLY CHILD CHOIR: Are you a child between the ages of 7- 16 years and a lover of music? Do you want to develop the art of singing? Then join the Children Choir on Fridays (Omisesan Hall)5:30pm and Saturday (Upper Hall) – 12:00pm. Parents are also encouraged to support and permit their children/ward(s) to join the Holy Child Choir.
  1. PARISH ID CARDS: This is to inform parishioners that the Parish ID cards of those who registered since last year October and beyond are ready for collection at the Parish Office, kindly go to the Parish Office to check. Also, we encourage our new members to please register at the Parish Office and those whose card is expired can as well renew at the Parish Office.

HOLY FAMILY CATHOLIC PARISH LIBRARY: We are pleased to inform you that the Anthony Cardinal Okogie Reference (Parish) Library located beside the Anthony Cardinal Okojie Lower Hall is here to serve you better. At very affordable prices, we offer the following services: Photocopying, Lamination, Binding, Spiral Binding, Typing, Printing, Colored Photocopy etc. We also offer a vast range of books ranging from Literature to Accounting to Economics and a lot more.   1. NOVENA TO OUR LADY UNDOER OF KNOTS: Our Parish novena to Our Lady Undoer of Knots comes up every month from the 1st to 9th of the month. Let us participate actively with the prayers on the various parish platforms.
  1. (1%) ONE PERCENT BIBLE CHALLENGE: We wish to encourage all Parishioners to read and study the word of God for at least 15minutes every day; which is about 1% of 24 hours. For this period, we shall be continuing with the Book of Genesis. Take up this challenge faithfully as stated below and be enriched spiritually.

  1. RETURN TO THE SACRAMENTS: We wish to encourage those who have been estranged from the sacraments for one reason or the other especially the Holy Eucharist, to return to the Sacraments. Kindly meet any of the Priests if you are having any difficulty in this regard. May Christ grant us life through His Body and Blood. Amen.
