Parish Announcements – 17th September, 2023

  1. SPECIAL COLLECTION FOR THE POOR: Today, Sunday, 17th September2023 shall be our monthly Special Collection for the Poor. This collection is to help offshoot some of the activities of St. Vincent De Paul Society. Let us all donate generously. “Remember, whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers, that you do unto me”. You can also transfer to: First Bank, Society of St. Vincent De Paul, 2027264230.
  1. EHJ TRANSFERS: This is to inform all Parishioners that three of our EHJ Sisters, Sr. Josephine Odorwike (Parish Sister), Sr. Regina Maureen Okoli (Sister-in-charge of the Bookshop), and Sr. Paulina Umole have been transferred and are to be replaced by Sr. Gloria Anyiam EHJ (new Parish Sister) & Sr. Mary Nancy Igbinosa EHJ (new Sister-in-charge of the Bookshop). We wish our outgoing Sisters well as we also welcome our new Sisters and wish them a fulfilling stay with us. Please let us continue to remember them in our prayers.

APPRECIATION: On behalf of the Parish Pastoral Team and the Planning Committee of our Mother Mary’s Birthday, we wish to express our profound gratitude to you our dear parishioners for your active participation, contributions and support towards the success of the Parish celebration of our Mother Mary’s Birthday last Sunday.   1. SOLOMON’S COURT TALENT HUNT: The Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria of Holy Family Catholic Church presents to you her 2nd edition of the Solomon’s Court Talent Hunt which holds today, 17th September 2023.
    Venue: Pope JohnPaull II Hall.
    Time: 4:00pm. There will be various presentations and display of amazing talents like Rapping, Singing, Dancing, Acting, Artistry Display/Crafts and lots more with cash prizes to be won.
    1st Prize- #250,000;
    2nd Prize- #100,000;
    3rd Prize- #50,000.
    Gate Fee: #1,000.
  1. ARCHDIOCESAN PRIESTLY ORDINATION: To the glory of God, some deaconsof the Archdiocese will be ordained priests by 10:00am on Thursday, 21st September, 2023 at the Holy Cross Cathedral, Lagos. Let us keep them in our prayers as we continue to pray for all our Clergy especially the ordinands.
    Please note that there shall be NO Mid-day Mass on that day.
  1. PARISH YOUTH WEEK: This is to inform parishioners of our annual Parish Youth Week which begins today, Sunday,17th September with the grand finale of the Solomon’s Court Talent Hunt and will run till next week Sunday, 24th September 2023. Activities includes Symposium, Revival, Jersey Day and lots more. We enjoin all youths in the Parish to participate actively. For God and for youth…… through Christ
  1. HEALTH CHECK: The Young Christian Workers (YCW) Movement in collaboration with Nuerve International will be holding a 1-Day Health Talk on wellness & nutrition today, Sunday, 17th September 2023. Time: after 8:00am mass. There will also be Medical Tests for as low as #1,000 and free BP tests.
  1. ST. THOMAS MORE AWARD OF RECOGNITION: Two of our Parishioners shall be receiving an Archdiocesan Award, Mr Bensolo Okeleke (Parish Nominee) and Sir Clement Iwuchukwu (ADC Nominee) this Saturday September 23rd, 2023 at the end of the Holy Mass which shall begin by 10:00am. Venue: Holy Cross Cathedral, Lagos. We congratulate them.
  1. ALTAR SERVERS:  There will be a compulsory meeting of the Chaplain with the Parents of the Altar Servers today, Sunday, 17th September 2023. Venue: Anthony Cardinal Okogie Hall. Time: 12 noon. Also, there is a call for new members into the Association. Male (from age of communicant to 16 years)& Female (from age of communicant to 12 years)while old altar servers are also free to return. We encourage all parents/guardians to permit children who are interested to join.
  1. FEAST DAY: Thursday, 21stSeptember 2023 is the Feast of the St Matthew (Apostle & Evangelist), we are all encouraged to attend Mass and observe the feast devoutly.
  1. SMALL CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY: SCC meetings will take place at various Community Centers on Wednesday, 20th September 2023 at 6:00pm. Scriptural reading: Matthew 20:1-16a. Please note that there will be no evening Mass or Society meetings during the SCC time. There shall be Mass this Wednesday atBlessed Iwene Tansi SCC. Venue:3rd Avenue, N Close, House18, Festac Town. All those living around should be in attendance. Please refer to the Parish notice board or Parish website for the various centers.
  1. KNOW YOUR FAITH: This Saturday, 23rd September, 2023, we shall have our Parish Monthly Know Your Faith/ Doctrinal Class during the 6:30am Mass. All Parishioners are encouraged to be in attendance so as to grow in the faith.
  1. BLESSING OF HOLY WATER AND SACRAMENTALS: Parishioners are encouraged to come with their Water, Salt, Olive Oil and other sacramentals for blessing every Tuesday for the Rite of Blessings during the evening mass.
  1. NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF CATHOLIC LAWYERS (NACL): NationalAssociationof Catholic LawyersLagos Archdiocese in conjunction with National Association of Catholic Lawyers, Festac will be organizing a Town Hall Meeting on Sunday, 1st October 2023. Time: 1:00pm. Venue: Parish Anthony Cardinal Olubunmi Okogie Hall. All Catholic Lawyers within Festac area are cordially invited.

TRADE FEST 2023: In a bid to have more Parishioners participate, the Maiden edition of our Parish Trade Fest will now hold on Sunday, 5th November 2023 from 7:00am to 5:00pm at the Courtyard and Car Park areas of the Church Halls. Take advantage of this opportunity to showcase your Business, Network and grow your customer base within our Worshipping Community of Love. HARVEST: All those who made pledges at last year’s Harvest of Divine Peace and previous Harvests should kindly redeem them by cash, cheque or POS at the Harvest Stand (on Sundays) and Parish Office (during the week).   1. PARISH ID CARDS: This is to inform parishioners that the Parish ID cards of those who registered since June this year and beyond are ready for collection at the Parish Office, kindly go to the Parish Office to check. Also, we encourage our new members to please register at the Parish Office and those whose card is expired can as well renew at the Parish Office.
  1. (1%) ONE PERCENT BIBLE CHALLENGE: We wish to encourage all Parishioners to read and study the word of God for at least 15minutes every day; which is about 1% of 24 hours. For this week, we shall be reading from the Letters to the Hebrews. Take up this challenge faithfully as stated below and be enriched spiritually.

  1. RETURN TO THE SACRAMENTS: We wish to encourage those who have been estranged from the sacraments for one reason or the other especially the Holy Eucharist, to return to the Sacraments. Kindly meet any of the Priests if you are having any difficulty in this regard. May Christ grant us life through His Body and Blood. Amen.
