Parish Announcement – 13th August, 2023

  1. SOLEMNITY: Tuesday, 15th August 2022 is the Solemnity of the Assumption of our Blessed Virgin Mary into heaven body and soul. It was fitting that she who was born without the original sin of Adam and bore the Son of God; having completed her earthly Divine mission should not see bodily death or corruption of the grave, rather should enjoy the assumption of her glorified body through the power of God. We are all obliged to attend mass, there shall be masses at the usual times.
  1. ORGANIZATIONS MEETING: Today, 13th August 2023, is the Monthly General Meetings of the Catholic Women Organization and Catholic Men Organization (after the 10.00am Mass) and Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria (after the 8:00am Mass). Let us all ensure we attend our respective organizations as crucial matters will be discussed.
  1. FINAL PROFESSION: The Final Profession of our Sister in charge of the Bookshop, Rev. Sr. Mary Clementina Okoli EHJ, holds on Tuesday, 15th August 2023 at St. John Catholic Church, Igando by 10:00am. We are all encouraged to attend. The Thanksgiving mass comes up on Sunday, 3rd September 2023. You are cordially invited. There shall be a brochure for the event and cost for Goodwill Messages and Advert Placements are as follows: Back Page (#100,000); Inner/Back Page (#75,000); Full Page Advert (#40,000).   1. BLESSING OF HOLY WATER AND SACRAMENTALS: Parishioners are encouraged to come with their Water, Salt, Olive Oil and other sacramentals for blessing every Tuesday for the Rite of Blessings during the evening mass.
  1. SMALL CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY: SCC meetings will take place at various community centers on Wednesday, 16th August 2023 at 6pm. Scriptural reading: Matthew 15:21-28. Please note that there will be no evening Mass or Society meetings during the SCC time. There shall be mass this Wednesday at St. Mary SCC. Venue: 3rd Avenue, P Close, House 18, Festac Town. All those living around should be in attendance. Please refer to the Parish notice board or parish website for the various centers.
  1. SPECIAL COLLECTION FOR THE POOR: Next week Sunday, 20th August 2023, is the third Sunday of the month and so, we shall have our monthly special collection for the Poor. Let us prepare to donate generously. “Remember, whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers, that you do unto me”
  1. REQUIEM MASS: There will be Requiem Mass for Late Mrs Umezurike Margaret Nwakwelu on Wednesday, 16th August 2023 by 10:00am. She was a member of the St. Anthony of Padua Society, Association of Sacred Heart of Jesus & Immaculate Heart of Mary, Legion of Mary & Pious Women.
  1. CHRISTIAN WAKE: There will be Christian Wake for Late Mr Wilfred Onowu Anozia on Thursday, 17th August 2023 by 6:00pm (Venue: 4th Avenue, 401 Road, E Close, Block 2, Flat 15, Festac Town). He was a member of the Association of Sacred Heart of Jesus & Immaculate Heart of Mary.
  1. INVITATION: The Catholic Charismatic Renewal of the parish invites all parishioners to her 7-Days power packed revival with the theme; Grace for Greatness… (Eph. 2:8-10). Date: Monday, 14th August 2023 to Sunday, 20th August 2023. Venue: Upper Hall The revival begins with the Evening Mass at 6:30pm.
  1. CATHOLIC TEACHERS ASSOCIATION: The 2023 summer lesson is ongoing and will run till Friday, 25th August, 2023. Our usual programme include Academics, Vocational Training, Library Studies, Moral Instruction(s) and Religious Studies as each day’s lesson ends with the attendance of the Holy Mass. Parents or Guardians should kindly register their children/ward at the Parish Office or the Laity Office. Registration Form: #500. Fees: #3,500 (Nursery & Primary) and #5,000 (Secondary).
  1. SOLOMON’S COURT TALENT HUNT: The CYON of Holy Family Catholic Church presents to you her 2nd edition of the Solomon’s Court Talent Hunt. This season promises to be top notch as loads of amazing talents like Rappers, Singers, Dancers, Actors, Artists/Various Crafts and so much more would be displayed on stage.   1. This is to inform you our dear parents whose children registered for the NIN exercised conducted in the parish last 2 weeks that the slips are ready for pickup. Kindly pick them up at the Parish Office during the week between 9:00am to 4:00pm.

All those who made pledges at last year’s Harvest of Divine Peace and previous Harvests should kindly redeem them by cash, cheque or POS at the Harvest Stand (on Sundays) and Parish Office (during the week).   1. This is to inform parishioners that the Parish ID cards of those who registered since last year and beyond are ready for collection at the Parish Office, kindly go to the Parish Office to check. Also, we encourage our new members to please register at the Parish Office and those whose card is expired can as well renew at the Parish Office.
  1. (1%) ONE PERCENT BIBLE CHALLENGE: We wish to encourage all Parishioners to read and study the word of God for at least 15minutes every day; which is about 1% of 24 hours. For this week, we shall be reading from the Second Letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians & Galatians. Take up this challenge faithfully as stated below and be enriched spiritually.

  1. RETURN TO THE SACRAMENTS: We wish to encourage those who have been estranged from the sacraments for one reason or the other especially the Holy Eucharist, to return to the Sacraments. Kindly meet any of the Priests if you are having any difficulty in this regard. May Christ grant us life through His Body and Blood. Amen.
