Parish Announcement – 16th June, 2024

  1. SPECIAL COLLECTION FOR THE POOR: Today, 16th June 2024 shall be our monthly Special Collection for the Poor. This collection is to help support the activities of St. Vincent De Paul. Let us all prepare to donate generously. “Remember, whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers, that you do unto me”
  1. ANTHONY CARDINAL OLUBUNMI OKOGIE 88TH BIRTHDAY: Today, 16th June, 2024 is the 88th Birthday celebration of our Archbishop Emeritus Anthony Cardinal Olubunmi Okogie. We are all encouraged to remember him in your prayers.
  1. PARISH 40-HOUR ADORATION: Our Parish will be hosting 40 Hours Eucharistic Adoration from Thursday, 27th June to Saturday, 29th June, 2024. During this sacred time, we will have the blessed opportunity to deepen our connection with the divine presence of Christ in the Holy Eucharist. We invite you to come and spend time in quiet contemplation, in prayer, and reflection in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament. The Eucharistic Adoration is specially organized for a deep spiritual experience with Christ. Please prepare to attend. Details of the adoration will be furnished in due course.
  1. PUBLIC HOLIDAY: Due to the national public holiday on Monday, 17th June 2024 and Tuesday, 18th June, 2024 masses shall be by 6:30am and 6:30pm ONLY. Please note that the Parish Office will be closed on Tuesday, 18th June, 2024.
  1. REQUIEM MASS: There will be Requiem Mass for Late Mr Nonso Ike on Wednesday, 19th June 2024 by 12:30pm. We are all encouraged to pray for the repose of his soul.
  1. SMALL CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY: SCC meetings will take place at various community centers on Wednesday, 19th June 2024 at 6pm. Scriptural reading: Mark 4:35-41. Please note that there will be no evening Mass or Society meetings during the SCC time. There shall be mass this Wednesday at St. Augustine SCC. Venue: 512 Road, F Close, House 11, Festac Town. All those living around should be in attendance. Please refer to the Parish notice board or parish website for the various centers.
  1. KNOW YOUR FAITH: Saturday, 22nd June 2024 is our Parish Know Your Faith/Doctrinal Class during the 6:30am mass. We are all encouraged to be in attendance so as to grow in the faith.
  1. INVITATION: The “Less we Forget” cenotaph in memory of the millions of unborn children killed through abortion, shall be unveiled on Saturday, 22nd June, 2024 immediately after the 6:30am mass. We are all cordially invited and encouraged to pray for their innocent souls.
  1. HARVEST: All those who made pledges at last year’s Harvest and beyond should kindly redeem them by cash, cheque or POS at the Parish Office (during the week). You can as well transfer directly to the Harvest Account: HOLY FAMILY CATHOLIC CHURCH, HARVEST, ZENITH- 1014506326.
  1. PARISH ID CARDS: This is to inform parishioners that the Parish ID cards of those who registered since last year 2023 and beyond are ready for collection at the Parish Office, kindly go to the Parish Office to check. Also, we encourage our new members to please register at the Parish Office and those whose card is expired can as well renew at the Parish Office.
  1. SECURITY: We will like to draw our parishioners’ attention to be more security conscious and hold on to their valuables especially in the church during mass. This is to prevent cases of theft in the church.
  1. CLEANING OF THE CHURCH: We hereby urge all parishioners to imbibe proper maintenance culture as relating to keeping the church and its premises clean always. As we encourage all parishioners to use the waste bins rather than litter the church with dirt, we also appeal to all parents to please keep their children away from the flowers as they keep damaging them. We appreciate those parishioners who have been helping in sweeping and keeping the church compound clean. As we keep the House of God clean, may God keep us clean from sin and free us from all evil. Amen.

  1. ALTAR BREAD: We wish to inform all parishioners that a pack of Altar Bread is now sold for N2,500. We apologize for any inconvenience.
  1. (1%) ONE PERCENT BIBLE CHALLENGE: We wish to encourage all Parishioners to read and study the word of God for at least 15minutes every day; which is about 1% of 24 hours. For this week, we shall be continuing with the Gospel of St. Luke. Take up this challenge faithfully as stated below and be enriched spiritually.

  1. RETURN TO THE SACRAMENTS: We wish to encourage those who have been estranged from the sacraments for one reason or the other especially the Holy Eucharist, to return to the Sacraments. Kindly meet any of the Priests if you are having any difficulty in this regard. May Christ grant us life through His Body and Blood. Amen.
