Parish Announcements – 4th June, 2023

  1. SOLEMNITY OF THE MOST HOLY TRINITY: Today is the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity, the undivided unity of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Let us all celebrate this great mystery of the Church.
  1. TITHE SUNDAY: Today being the first Sunday of the month is Tithe Sunday, there shall be a special blessing before the Second Collection. You can also make your transfers to our Fidelity Bank 5080032193 in favour of Holy Family Catholic Church, Festac.
  1. CHIDREN’S DAY: Our parish Children’s Day celebration holds today. The celebration shall begin with the Children’s mass at 10:00am and the Children’s party immediately after in the church compound. Let us specially celebrate our wonderful children as a parish. 
  1. SOLEMNITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI: Next week Sunday, 11th June 2022 is the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus et Sanguinis Christi). It is a day set aside by the Church to remember and appreciate Jesus’ gift of His body and blood to mankind for our sanctification, and salvation (eternal life). Let us all prepare to celebrate this great mystery of the Church where Jesus is really PRESENT in the Holy Eucharist though in the form of bread and wine.
  1. ORDINARY TIME: The Liturgical Period referred to as “Ordinary Time of the Year” has begun. The weeks of Ordinary Time celebrates no particular aspect of the mystery of Christ. The saying of “Angelus” is resumed. The Readings at Mass begins and are taken from Week 8 of the year; Sunday readings are from Year A and Weekday readings are from Cycle I. The colour of the season is Green.
  1. ORGANIZATIONS MEETING: Next week Sunday, 11thJune 2023, is the Monthly General Meetings of the Catholic Men Organization and Catholic Women Organization (after the 10.00am Mass) and Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria (after the 8:00am Mass). Let us all prepare to attend our respective organization meetings.
  1. SMALL CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY (SCC): SCC meetings have resumed and will take place at various community centers on Wednesday, 7th June 2023 at 6pm.
    Scriptural reading: John6:51-58.Please note that there will be no evening Mass or Society meetings during the SCC time.
    There shall be mass this Wednesday at St. Joseph SCC.
    Venue:321 Road, D Close, House 24, Festac Town. All those living around should be in attendance. Please refer to the Parish notice board or parish website for the various centers.
  1. SACRED HEART WEEK: The Association of Sacred Heart and Immaculate Heart of Mary invites all parishioners to her Sacred Heart Week which will run from next week Sunday, 11th June to 18th June 2023 with the theme; “I Will Reign through my Heart, inspite of Satan and His AgentsSub Theme;Heart of Mary, Nailed to the Cross with Jesus Christ”. Below are the topics for our daily talks:
    Mon., 12th June 2023:           I will Reign through my Heart inspite of Satan and His Agents.
    Tues., 13th June 2023:           How to keep your Enthronement Alive, Suggested Practices. Wed., 14th June 2023:           Know your Sacred Heart Associations
    Thurs., 15th June 2023:         Why the Practice of the First Five Saturdays of the Month, Communion of Reparation.

    Sat. 17th June 2023:               Feast of Immaculate Heart of Mary (Visit to the Sick, Motherless Homes/ Less Privileged and Prison.
    Sun., 18th June 2023:            Open Thanksgiving at all Masses
  1. CHARITY/LOVE BOWL: We wish to remind our parishioners to return their Lenten Charity/ Love bowls to St Vincent de Paul Society. Let us endeavor to be committed. Remember;“whatsoever you do to the least of my brethren, that you do unto me”.
  1. CD SALES:  The Video Recording of the Rededication Ceremony is out!! The CD goes for 500 naira only. Ensure you get one for yourselves, friends and family members.
  1. CYON TEEN CAMP 2023: We are back again, bigger and better!   1. CHILDREN MASS: Parents and Guardians are encouraged to take their children to attend the 8am Children Mass at the Upper Hall. Church wardens are to direct them accordingly.
  1. 2022 HARVEST: All those who made pledges at last year’s Harvest of Divine Peace should kindly redeem them by cash, cheque or POS at the Harvest Stand (on Sundays) and Parish Office (during the week).

  1. PARISH ID CARDS: This is to inform parishioners that the Parish ID cards of those who registered since last year and beyond are ready for collection at the Parish Office, kindly go to the Parish Office to check. Also, we encourage our new members to please register at the Parish Office and those whose card is expired can as well renew at the Parish Office.
  1. HOLY CHILD CHOIR: The Holy Child Choir invites all children within the ages of 8 to 15 years who can play any musical instrument to come use their talents and skills to serve the Lord in the choir. The choir meets on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 6pm in the upper hall of the parish center. Registration is free.  Sing praises… unto the Lord!
  1. HOLY FAMILY CATHOLIC PARISH LIBRARY: We are pleased to inform you that the Anthony Cardinal Okogie Reference (Parish) Library located beside the Anthony Cardinal Okojie Lower Hall is here to serve you better. At very affordable prices, we offer the following services:

    We also offer a vast range of books ranging from Literature to Accounting to Economics and a lot more.

  1. (1%) ONE PERCENT BIBLE CHALLENGE: We wish to encourage all Parishioners to read and study the word of God for at least 15minutes every day; which is about 1% of 24 hours. For this week, in other to keep the mysterious unity of the Holy Trinity fresh in our minds, we shall be reading from selected passages of the scriptures. Take up this challenge faithfully as stated below and be enriched spiritually.

  1. RETURN TO THE SACRAMENTS: We wish to encourage those who have been estranged from the sacraments for one reason or the other especially the Holy Eucharist, to return to the Sacraments. Kindly meet any of the Priests if you are having any difficulty in this regard. May Christ grant us life through His Body and Blood. Amen.
