INTRODUCTION:
In today’s gospel, some of the Pharisees tried to trick Jesus into speaking out against paying taxes to Ceasar, the Roman Emperor; even though they knew Jesus was an honest man. However, Jesus does not fall into their trap.
PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, teach me to obey those in authority over me. Help me to generously contribute my quota to the growth of my country and give me the grace never to depart from you.
WHAT TO DO (ACTION):
To be honest and faithful to God and to man.
QUESTIONS:
- Do people today pay taxes?
- What does government use the tax money for?
- Why did the Pharisees ask Jesus that tricky question?
- What do you think Jesus meant when He said; “Pay to God what belongs to God”?
- When Jesus said “Pay to Ceasar what belongs to Ceasar”, what does He mean?
